Students either love drama and poetry, or hate them. Yes, you will read a play and some poetry. Yes, you will write some poetry. And, yes, you will learn more about analysing both poetry and drama.
Should be interesting!
We will start with a review of the literary terms that all students are expected to know by the end of Grade 9. Luckily for you, you were supposed to learn most of them by the end of Grade 8, so they're not much of a stretch. This material is testable--so study up!
The Powerpoint we used in class is here: I strongly recommend that you take your own notes, however.
Then we're going to leap right into "Master Harold"...and the Boys by Athol Fugard.
Following that, we will spend some time on poetry--reading it, analysing it, and writing it (of course).
